Los Angeles County Office of Women's Health - Cervical Cancer Prevention and Education Initiative (CCPEI)
Objective: To encourage low income, uninsured, African American women to schedule appointments for the testing of Cervical Cancer through a hotline due to the disproportionate nature in which the disease affects minority groups in the Los Angeles area.
Implementation: Voices, Inc. designed a culturally sensitive marketing and outreach plan related to the availability of preventative health care services incorporating the following:
- Development of Communication Outreach Plan and Strategies
- Informational booth and seminars
- Participation in community parades and events
- Cinematic billboards
- Outdoor billboards
- Narrow casting
- Television and Radio spots
- Developed a partnership and collaboration with relevant organizations, service providers, and community and faith based organizations for effective dissemination of information and collateral materials
Results: Due to the efforts of Voices, Inc. the number of African American women to schedule an appointment through the hotline, rose from 3% to 15.4% between January and June of 2003.
